Larch, East Wellow
Larch is an impressive property with tiling a prominent feature throughout the house which consists of 6 bathrooms, a wine cellar, ornamental koi pond, and a leisure area containing pool, gym, sauna and steam room. There was also tiling on the external façade, where Ferroker 590x1200mm tiles were used to complement the large glass areas of the front elevation. The total quantity of tiling exceeding 800m2; Global Ceramic Tiling chose only the most reliable and high quality materials for the project. All tiles were sourced from Porcelanosa, and grouts and adhesives were supplied by Norcross.
Throughout Larch, tiling is used to combine utility and style. But there are a number of features where tiling is particularly in the spotlight. One such feature is the koi pond. Just outside the property, and set in the peaceful wooded gardens, the tiling here needed to blend with its natural surroundings. At the same time, it was important to highlight the beauty of the ornamental koi that would call the pond home. Working with our client, Global selected Porcelanosa Oxford Anthracita plank tiles. These were used to cover both the exterior surround, and for the innovative island seating area integrated into the middle of the pond. The tiles are subtle enough to sit comfortably in the property’s natural surroundings, and pair beautifully with the water.
Back inside, in the master en-suite, is an impressive circular shower. This was tiled with Porcelanosa ‘Treasures Mist Shannan Moon’ glass mosaic tiles, and is the statement piece of an already stunning bathroom.
The bathroom itself, along with the other bathrooms and leisure rooms in the property, features Porcelanosa tiles including Baltimore Grey 330x100mm, Rodano Silver (in a range of sizes), Madagascar 330x1000mm, and Oxford Antracita tiles for floors and feature walls. In keeping with the rest of the interior, these tiles are elegantly minimalist, and bring out the smooth lines and flowing finish of the house.
Grey stone and modern minimalist design can prove a difficult pairing. It is easy to end up with a cold, industrial effect. As such, Global Ceramic Tiling worked with the client at every stage of the tiling process to select just the right tiles, and ensure that Larch retained the warmth and comfort of a future family home – whilst staying faithful to its stylish design.
Rymill’s decision to return to Global Ceramic Tiling for this impressive (and personal) project is testament to Global’s commitment to quality craftsmanship. True to the Global ethos, attention was paid to the smallest details, and it shows in every tile.
